Our Solution Story

Sherwood Baptist serves a congregation of more than 2,000 worshippers, and is well-known for its production company Sherwood Pictures, producers of Christian-themed films such as Facing the Giants (2006) and Fireproof (2008).

Neil Philpott and John Hogg collaborated with Dan Mingo, Sherwood’s Media Director, and Brian Kelly, Sherwood’s Director of Technologies. They discussed Sherwood’s needs and goals for the system designs and integrations for a complete renovation of their aging standard definition equipment. Their existing set-up had become ineffective in clear presentation, both at internal content display and external camera-based broadcasting.

The central hub of the new high definition system renovation began with Panasonic’s flagship HD-SDI HS6000 2 ME switcher, handling live broadcast multi-camera feeds of services as well as graphics to the two large HD video projectors onto massive fixed frame screens. Content from various sources can be routed to numerous rear confidence monitors, mounted on the balcony’s face and broadcast to other areas around the campus that are equipped for remote worship and overflow. Three HD studio configured cameras, four HD Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras, two manned HD roving cameras, and a variety of HD fixed-shot POV cameras help to provide a variety of images for Sherwood’s internal magnification, external broadcast, and recordings.

The final product is a dynamic HD broadcast system that serves both the live weekly services as well as off-site presentations of these services.
