Our Solution Story
Hosch Theatre, opened in 2002, is the featured performance space in Brenau University’s Burd Center for the Performing Arts. It can seat an audience of 350, and it serves as a performance venue for the Brenau community as well as the Gainesville Theatre Alliance and other organizations.
Video + Control
Video
dB installed a 354-inch screen that covers most of the stage area, allowing students to view presentation slides from the theatre’s balcony with no trouble. The screen is mounted behind the proscenium so that it disappears from view when not in use. The screen also functions to hide any stage sets from view.
The 10,000 lumens laser projector from Digital Projection that we specified is powerful, yet extremely energy-efficient. It can run for hours and consume less power than other comparable power models and can simply be turned off after use without having to do a cool down cycle. Due to limited mounting options the projector is located over 60 feet away from the screen, but a long-throw lens resolves that issue handily.
Control
Video inputs are located next to the stage manager’s station, with extension cables so that a professor can have her laptop at the lectern and supply video input from the laptop to the projection screen. A second control panel at the media manager’s station upstairs offers additional control of the video and audio systems.
