Our Solution Story

dB began a partnership with New Covenant Christian Ministries in 2006 when we provided a complete renovation of the main audio system and video presentation system for the Sanctuary. Since then we have provided design build services for several additional projects, including a second campus and HD video cameras. Recently we were contacted to design a complete renovation of video production room, media booth, and digital audio systems.

Audio + Video

With the advances in digital console technology and the need to expand the audio capacity of the system, the church leadership decided to upgrade the audio mixing system and infrastructure. The broadcast requirements for the space and work flow for video production had exceeded the limitations of the original design so the request was not only to replace equipment but to also design the studio layout.

The goal was to add a quality digital console to be used to mix the service for broadcast and to develop a system that would allow the audio to be easily shared between multiple mixers and recordings. The new digital mixing systems were developed using products from the Allen & Heath family of digital consoles and also included a proprietary Personal Monitor system for Musicians. In addition to meeting the immediate needs, the new system creates the infrastructure to allow for future expandability anywhere on campus.

All of the recently purchased HD video Cameras were more than adequate for the demands. The studio was equipped with a 2 ME Switcher with control panel, 40×40 router, and two HyperDeck Studio Pro recorders. Video presentation controls in the media booth for the sanctuary were simplified by allowing access to the 2 ME Switcher via web interface which only require a small PC with keyboard and mouse. The two main projectors for the sanctuary were upgraded to the Panasonic PT-RZ12 three chip laser projectors.

Recap

The final product drastically improved the capacity of the staff to produce the weekly televised services and web cast as well as the live video presentations during services. The changes in the digital audio system provides a much more stable design with increased flexibility and expansion. Designing the production studio to accommodate the weekly workflow and simplified control for staff and volunteers has proven to be extremely helpful.
