dB Integrations Grows with The Jefferson Church
The Jefferson Church in Jefferson, Georgia has a history steeped in tradition. Starting in the 1930s, the church originally held services in the basement of a local mill where it was known as the “mill church.” The church later built its own building and continued to serve this local “mill” community.
In 2016, under the leadership of Senior Pastors Nick and Channe’l Dalton, the church was renamed as The Jefferson Church. Upon their arrival, one of the first things Pastor Nick noticed was the quality of the current sound system.
“At the time, they were using a roughly 20-year-old speaker system,” said Jeremy Clark, Operations Manager at dB Integrations. “That relationship went from helping with loudspeakers to lighting, video projection, wireless microphones, and more. We became a partner that helped with really any audio or video need.”
With the Daltons’ leadership and God’s providence, the church grew from just a few hundred people to multiple services and a need for new space.
In June of 2021, the story of the Jefferson Church returned to its roots as the Church purchased the very cotton mill where the church was founded in the 1930s. Because of the relationship they established with Pastor Nick and his team, dB Integrations was the first choice when discussions around the audio and video needs in a new sanctuary.
Coming alongside The Jefferson Church and its team led by Worship Pastor Cohen Whittington, the two teams dreamed together what could be possible in this new space. With a focus on excellence and creating the perfect environment for contemporary worship, the experience encompassed every aspect from on-campus interaction to online engagement.
“We did everything from the lighting to production cameras, audio and lighting in the main auditorium, the lobbies, the production room – there are even in-ground speakers outside that we planned for,” said dB Integrations’ Jeremy Clark.
The main auditorium is equipped with three Danley Sound Labs J7-95 loudspeakers as the primary system, supplemented by SH95HO and SH95 units for fills, along with four BC215 subwoofers. The system is powered by Danley DNA-20K4 and DNA-10K4 amplifiers and managed by a Danley DNA-SC48 digital signal processor. All of this is driven by an Allen & Heath dLive S7000 Control Surface, and includes in-ear monitors and wireless microphones from Sennheiser. Lighting in the main auditorium is driven by Elation, with haze provided by Chauvet. Stage displays for lyrics are LG commercial grade televisions. Filming for distribution online is done through Panasonic 4K/60P production cameras. An additional dLive S7000 Control Surface with Yamaha HS7 monitors is used in the production room to control audio for the church’s online feed.
Audio can also be found outside of the main auditorium. The Church’s lobby audio is distributed by surface-mount loudspeakers from QSC and delivered through a Q-SYS 110f Core. Audio just outside the front entrance is distributed through in-ground Bose speakers. Volume is controlled using a Q-SYS touch panel located in the lobby. Audio is routed into other areas through Atlas Sound ceiling speakers.
While the equipment chosen is important, Pastor Nick doesn’t believe it tells the whole story.
“From the ground level, with sound, lighting, and video, dB has been here as a partner,” said Senior Pastor Nick Dalton. “They understand ministry and how churches work so well, it made everything much easier. At the end of the day, it’s about relationships with people. Equipment is equipment. The people that do the work are those that make the real difference.”
