Buford City Schools Unveils State-of-the-Art Stadium Sound System at Phillip Beard Stadium

Danley Sound Labs loudspeakers and dB Integrations installation deliver college-caliber audio experience for the 2025 MaxPreps High School Football National Champions

Buford City Schools, in partnership with dB Integrations and Danley Sound Labs, completed the installation of a comprehensive audio system at the newly opened Philip Beard Stadium, home of the Buford Wolves football program and the 2025 national champions.

The project, completed in partnership with Charles Black Construction, equips the stadium with a sound system built to match the ambitions of a program known for excellence both on the field and in its facilities. The system was selected through an on-site listening demo, allowing district and athletics staff to evaluate equipment directly rather than from technical specifications alone: a process that led the team to choose the Danley J8-94 loudspeakers as the cornerstone of the install.

“When we started talking about everything we needed, I knew what I wanted it to do, but they had to figure out how to get me there,” said David Kimbro, technical director for Buford City Schools. “This place is something on Friday nights — I’m sitting up there behind that board, and I can control every TV and every speaker in the building from one location. That’s pretty amazing.”

System Overview

The stadium’s primary sound coverage is powered by two Danley J8-94 loudspeakers and four Danley BC415 subwoofers, positioned at the center of the stadium’s video board, with Danley OS62 loudspeakers flanking either side to extend clear, consistent coverage across the entire bowl. Danley Go2 loudspeakers cover concourse and auxiliary areas, ensuring fans remain connected to the in-stadium experience throughout the concession and walkway areas, while additional Go2 speakers and subwoofers were installed in the locker rooms to support players before, during, and after games.

A dedicated multipurpose room used for team functions, fan gatherings, and City of Buford meetings was outfitted with zoned QSC ceiling speakers and TVs capable of casting live game feeds, audio, and digital signage from a central control point.

“The product they chose was the Danley J8. As soon as we turned that on, everybody in the stadium said, ‘That’s what we have to have,’” said Cooper Hedden, Southeast Regional Sales Manager for Danley Sound Labs. “That’s the value of a demo — it’s not just us telling you what it sounds like, it’s letting you hear it for yourself. For a stadium this size, you need a system that doesn’t just cover the space, but makes the experience something fans actually feel.”

A Continued Partnership

The stadium project builds on an established relationship between Buford City Schools and dB Integrations, which previously designed and installed the audio, video, and lighting systems for the Buford High School Performing Arts Center, and completed a 150-seat auditorium installation for the district’s middle school performing arts program as well.

“dB Integrations was a great partner to come alongside, because we can build the best product in the world, but if it’s installed improperly or not tuned correctly, then we have issues on our hands — and that was certainly not the case here,” said Tony Wolfe, Buford City School District athletic director and City of Buford stadium manager. “The thing that I’ve noticed, since I’m not a sound or technology person myself, is just the amount of care and service they’ve provided. [Just] how many times they’ve been out here testing and making sure everything is working properly. I don’t know much about sound, but I do know the sound in here is great, and their service has been extraordinary.”

Jeremy Clark, Operations Manager at dB Integrations, said the goal across every Buford project from the stadium to a middle school auditorium has been the same. “dB loves doing big stadiums like this. It’s something we want to have excellence in, but at the same time, we also take pride in projects of every size: the auditorium, the soccer field, baseball. No matter how small a project may seem, we want to give it 100% and make sure it’s done with excellence.”
